Dr. David Fost is a diplomat of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Pediatrics.
He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was awarded the Alfred I. DuPont Pediatric Prize for “the student whose performance best demonstrates the qualities of academic and clinical excellence, human compassion, and commitment to the welfare of others.” He completed his internship and residency at the University of Wisconsin Children’s Hospital, and then spent one year teaching clinical pediatrics at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester, England. He completed a fellowship in allergy/immunology at the internationally recognized National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, Colorado. It is the only medical and research center in the U.S. devoted entirely to respiratory, allergic, and immune system diseases. While at National Jewish, he cared for both adults and children with severe asthma, allergy, and immune disorders.
Dr. Fost was cited in New Jersey Monthly magazine Top Doctors multiple times by his peers in the last 18 years in the biennial list of New Jersey’s best physicians.
Dr. Fost has published scientific and clinical papers on the diagnosis and treatment of asthma and allergies. He continues to teach medical students and residents and is a frequent lecturer on asthma and allergy topics.
He is the third generation of physicians in his family to practice medicine in Essex County, New Jersey, following his grandfather, William Fost, MD and he joined his father, Arthur Fost, M.D. in his current practice. Having a daughter with eczema, allergic rhinitis, and peanut allergy, one of his greatest strengths as a physician is his ability to see the clinical picture from the patient’s point of view and to implement a treatment plan from an empathetic and practical perspective.
Dr. David Fost is also the official school physician for the one of Essex County's local school boards. He selflessly volunteers his time to help with youth sports in our area.
